Prayer for Peace

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

"We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. INJUSTICE ANYWHERE IS A THREAT TO JUSTICE EVERYWHERE. We must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

I affirm we all know love

We hold the power and the presence of love

With this presence we

Join our energies together

In an affirmative prayer of peace

Use your imagination and

Envision each of the words

Into sensations of healing

Our intention is to call upon

This powerful meditative community

To focus on peace, unity and justice

On the vision of compassion

On the feeling of unity

On the power of love

Emanate love

Demonstrate compassion

Attest to unity

Know with this intention

Right now we join together in the

Power of love and

Presence of each one of us

We are a healing presence

Soothing to souls in need

I share with you the singing of an Affirmative Prayer by Karen Drucker.

Participants’ Reflections:

  • Your singing is so amazing, just beyond belief.

  • I encourage anyone who has trouble moving from meditation to normal life, to just sit in a chair and just be. It’s a part of moving from one step to another. I’ll have to lie down after this and let go. Helps us move from one place to another.

  • The reading was incredible. Love the song and prayer, and Martin Luther King’s words. I focused on the universal I am. During the meditation, I experienced all life as a huge being and we are all on this being. I could feel how we are all on it, all connected.

  • Thank you for what felt like a lullaby. It was very soothing. My energy field has been disrupted. I was trying to figure out how to participate, how to breathe. You reminded me that singing and humming are soothing.

  • During the meditation, I connected to universe. I was paying attention to the birds, the light shifting. I felt a part of nature, it was wonderful.

  • The universal I am, nature

  • I am a trance healer. In the space I am in and that all of you are in with me, is deep. It’s not unusual to feel overwhelmed. It’s important to know a transition is helpful. We don’t have to work our brains and hearts as hard if we allow for a transition.

  • Easy to feel powerless now. One tangible action--Boston Children’s Hospital is doing “double red” as they resume elective surgeries. They are taking twice the amount of red cells out and put fluid back in. Lots of precautions so you aren’t at risk. Tangible thing you can do to show your compassion and to help in healing

  • Remind all to pray. Not focus on the horrible things, but pray for healing. Put your energy there.

  • I think you are showing the collective power of our hearts and energies. A way to put healing into the world. We so need this right now, during this time of climate crisis, pandemic, and racial injustice. The power of our collective—we can put our energies out there.

  • It’s palpable

  • There is a book called Emissary of Light by James Twyman. He is singer/songwriter who traveled to Croatia and Serbia by being guided there. He experienced the power of prayer and community. I’ve been re-reading it to pull the readings together and draw on it for this meditation.

  • Comforting to me that our group and so many other groups, churches, synagogues, mosques are gathering. The power of the oneness in all these prayers and songs and tears, are more than what we can put words on.

  • What an incredible blessed time together. Thank you for creating, maintaining, sustaining this community of prayer and meditation. May we hold it in our hearts all day throughout our steps into every day, to create peace in this world, community, and just the presence of what we feel which is love.
